Volume4 was founded in 2001 by Schalk Neethling and has been involved in a wide variety of projects for clients all around the world. When the company started it was mainly involved in logo design as well as stationary design. This evolved later into also providing web design and development services.
Volume4 has had a very good track record over the past 7 years but, founder Schalk Neethling, felt that the strength of Volume4 rely lied in two areas. Those areas being logo and stationary design. To this end in late 2007 Schalk decided to create a seperate brand and company that would take care of all those aspects not suited to Volume4 and started Overt Strategy Consulting.
From this time Volume4 has become the sister company of Overt Strategy Consulting and has shifted it's focus to what Volume4 does best, branding. There was reshuffling of people to ensure the right people are part of the right company. Although Schalk is still the art director for Volume4 his main focus has shifted from taking care of just Volume4 into being the president of Overt Strategy Consulting. Theresa Neethling has a long standing history with advertising and merchandising for various industries. She has a solid background in illustration and design and holds a degree in Graphic Design from Intec College. Theresa is the current lead brand designer at Volume4 and has produced exceptional logo's for some of Volume4's most loyal clients. Theresa is currently also studying towards her degree in commercial art and through this will ensure that Volume4 will be constantly expanding on the branding services we offer to our clients.
Theresa is also a passionate photographer with a special love for candid photographs of children that captures the child's personality. She find great inspiration through her photography and this filters through to her design work. With a passion for design and the arts she is a valued member of the Volume4 team.
For the past eight(8) years Schalk Neethling has been working as a freelance developer under the pseudo of Volume4 and is now the president of Overt Strategy Consulting. During this period he has completed over 300 projects ranging from full web application development to complete branding. As president and lead developer of Overt Strategy Consulting, Schalk Neethling and his team has released a 100% Java standards based content management system called AlliedBridge and business document exchange and review system, called Doc-Central.
Schalk Neethling is also actively involved on a daily basis in the open source, web standards and accessibility areas and is a current active member of the Web Standards Group. Schalk is also the co-founder and president of the non-profit The South Web Standards and Accessibility Group, which aims to actively educate and raise awareness of web standards and accessibility to both the developer society as well as business large and small.
Schalk also has a long relationship with DZone and is currently zone leader for both the web builder, css.dzone.com, as well as the .NET zone, dotnet.dzone.com, and you can find a lot of his writing there as well as on his blog located at schalkneethling.alliedbridge.com.
